If you and your partner are trying to conceive, or even thinking about having a baby here are some simple things that MEN can do now to improve your chances. There is a lot of pressure put on women when it comes to conceiving, but as we all know it takes both a male and a female to make a baby! So try and implement these few simple things into your day to day routine to improve your chances of conception:
#1: Get Acupuncture Together! Acupuncture has amazing results for Fertility, but with most couples only the female receives treatment. Getting treated together as a couple is far more effective and can increase your chance as a couple of falling pregnant. Your acupuncturist will work out a treatment plan for you both, but treat you individually. Not only will it improve your Fertility, but Acupuncture will work wonders for other aspects of your life too! Win win!
#2: Visit your GP for a full check up
When trying to conceive it is important to make sure your health is in order. Getting a sperm count can be a really great way to check the quality of your semen. Consult your GP about any other ways you can improve your health in preparation for conception. Also, ask your Doctor about any potential side effects of medication that may affect fertility.
#3: Maintain a healthy Diet
Studies show that having a diet rich in Vitamin C and Zinc can improve Fertility. A diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables can naturally help boost your fertility. Remember to drink plenty of water daily!
Avoid also smoking tobacco, drinking excess caffeine and alcohol.
#4: Exercise regularly
Regular exercise and a healthy diet has been proved to boost fertility by relieving stress and anxiety. Maintain your ideal weight and do not try to over-do it as excessive exercise or under eating can cause a lack of libido and lead to exhaustion.
#5: Aim to have sex every other day
Excess ejaculation can be very straining on the testes and in fact, if you ejaculate every day the testes do not have the time to keep up with the sperm production, resulting in less viable sperm in the semen.
On the other hand, storing up sperm for long periods of time can result in a lower count of active, healthy sperm in the semen. Determining when your partner is ovulating is the best time to try, if not every other day is best!
#6: Use a Fertility tracking app
Use a Fertility tracking app with your partner to determine when she is most fertile. Tracking the month with her is a great way for you both to be involved and informed about when is the best time to try and conceive.
